RAM and CPU compatibility

Go to solution Solved by PDifolco,

You're good with 3600CL18 on a 5900X but you should use another brand, Corsair Vengeance is iffy on Ryzen

And this is my first hand experience not some stuff I've seen on Reddit 馃槢

I am in the process of building my computer and would like to know if I bought the right RAM based on my CPU. I settled on a Ryzen 5900x 3.7Ghz Processor and my current selection of RAM is Corsair LPX 32 GB (2x16) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory. I read somewhere that the 5900x only supports up to 3200 memory and not sure how this will affect my setup or if it could potentially be harmful. The price difference between 3600 and 3200 was 10 bucks for the RAM I wanted so it is not the end of the world if I got the wrong thing.

Wont do any harm to anything regardless, worst that can happen is your cpu wont let you run certain speed, get the 3600 ram because even if it wont run that speed you can choose to run the ram at a lesser speed/looser timings, I can run ram @ 3600 with my 3700x and its not even rated for 3200, its a chip by chip thing some chips will accept and run it some wont, mine for instance will run higher speeds but only with corsair or crucial for some reason my 3700x hates Adata, throws hundreds of errors at any speed any voltage
