Budget (including currency): $2200 CDN

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Doom Eternal, CS:GO, RDR2, GTA5

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a 1000W PSU and an ATX case I’ll be using for this build already. Not part of the above budget.

Hey All,

I have put together a couple build that I’d like to get some feedback on. One an Intel and the other an AMD. I’m looking to get a system for max setting 1440p together. Anything I should change for spending my money elsewhere?

Z790 board in general are just terrible value, especially for a 12th gen CPU.

Anyway, I swapped the board to a good Z690 board, then go with 13600kf and 16Gb 3600mhz.

32GB is still overkill for gaming.

CPU: Intel Core i5-13600KF 3.5 GHz 14-Core Processor ($379.00 @ Canada Computers)

CPU Cooler: Deepcool AK620 68.99 CFM CPU Cooler ($75.79 @ Vuugo)

Motherboard: MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($244.99 @ Amazon Canada)

Memory: TEAMGROUP Vulcan Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($49.99 @ Canada Computers)

Video Card: Zotac GAMING Trinity OC GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR 10 GB Video Card ($1269.00 @ Amazon Canada)

Total: $2018.77

Or get 6950XT, which is much faster and cheaper.

Video Card: PowerColor Red Devil OC Radeon RX 6950 XT 16 GB Video Card ($1168.83 @ Amazon Canada)

Are you recommending the Intel build with the 6950XT?

Yes.

But I didn't see that the other build was a 7600X, because it was private.

Regardless, I'd go with 13600KF because it ended up cheaper anyway.

The reason I was thinking the AMD route was strictly for future upgrades. Maybe go to an X3D in a couple years?

Well that's good too, I thought it would've been for like a long term build, should've mentioned that.

I'd change the the RAM to 6000 at least, frequency is everything for DDR5. And 6000 is the sweet spot according to AMD.
