Budget (including currency): £800~900

Country: United kingdom

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: high refresh rate (144/165 hz )AAA gaming on 1080p with a possible upgrade to 1440p in the future and some light game development in unity and unreal

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

This is what I have, its fairly refined but I need some help with upgradeability and performance hits I have had to take due to my strict budget like:

the 12100f is just a budget place holder for a while so Will this motherboard be good enough to support CPU upgrades in the future to maybe a 12600kf or even a 13600kf?

Will the 3200mhz be much worse than 3600mhz cl16 ram?

And which of the gpu should I get for price to performance in general?

Thnks for the help 🙂

Intel CPUs are not very sensitive to DDR4 speeds, so 3200 is perfectly fine. The 6650 XT was the best value of the 3 you selected, and will pair nicely with the 12400. The new motherboard is among the best B660s for its VRMs, so a 13600K in the future should work barring you keep its power in check. Speaking of power, I upgraded you to a more sufficient unit for those future upgrades.

Went with amd since with intel you go straight for a 13600k combo or you are wasting money on crap thats gonna get outdated, still a viable route to get a weaker 12th gen and upgrade to 13600k if you do it within a year before next gen. You can close the performance gap between the 5500 and 5600 by just ocing to 4.6-4.8g 1.25-1.35v and clocking the balls off the rams but that may be abit board limited since cezanne goes to 5000mhz ddr4 in 1:1 fclk and the klevv 3600 bin has decent bin hynix djrs which id expect to do around 5200 with a max voltage of 1.7v (safe but not advisable to go higher cause imc nay degrade slightly)

Buy the 6800 used they float around 400£ on ebay

If youd like a better psu also look for a used one, pretty sure you can get a used actually decent 850w gold unit for the same price as this new bronze unit

12400 don't really need an aftermarket cooler, just the stock one.

Great B660 board for the price, should be able to handle 13600K.

16GB 3200 RAM. Solid value gen 4 SSD.

RX 6700 XT and 650W high quality PSU.
