android SD card problem

I have 64gb SD card and i want to make it as a default storage for media stuff from some apps or even default for gallery to save screenshot,etc. on SD card.
running on Redmi Note 7 with MIUI 12.5.1

Gonna need to have the phone format the card as "internal storage"

i saw tenorshare fomatting like 20% of it as an internal storage and etc
but the fact about making it appear as an internal people say that installing apps on sd may damage it and files get corrupted along the way
and if formatted as internal will that stop me from unplugginy my sd from phone to laptop and returning to phone?

Formatting will wipe any data already on there, so whatever files you want to keep need to be backed up.

As for corrupting internal storage, I've had the same 32gb Samsung Evo card in 3 phones (6yrs old now) now formatted as internal storage in 2 of them, still running like a champ.

If you want to use the sd card for transferring between laptop and phone, I wouldn't format as internal storage.
