Google Nest Stats Advice (UFH, CH & HW)

ChrisLoudon

Hi guys,

Hopefully someone here will have some handy advice.

The problem:

Too many to count but in short, I’m not happy with my Heatmiser control hardware so I’m looking to swap out all the stats with some Nests. I’m oil fired and with heating bills going through the roof and oil not covered by any UK help schemes or price caps I need to make sure I’m not wasting a drop.

The current setup:

3 Zone UFH system, each controlled by a Heatmiser NetStat V2 which are wired into a Heatmiser UH8 relay which in turn controls the boiler, valves and pump.

Single zone no frills central heating system and hot water cylinder controlled by a Neo Air V2 and 2 ch RF receiver.

Grant Vortex Eco 26/35 External Oil Fuelled Boiler

The questions:

1.       Do I need one of the top-tier Nest Thermostats to control each UFH zone or will one of the Thermostat E models work?

2.       Do I require the full-fat Leaning Thermostat for the hot water and central heating AND the Heat Link unit? – I think the answer to this is yes but just want to double check.

3.       Do the Nest stats create a mesh wireless network to talk to each other or does each unit connect to your home network individually?

4.       Do I require the Heat Link units for the each of the UFH stats or are they just required if a direct boiler connection is required? I couldn’t tell if the stat can be wired directly to my UH8 like the NeoStats or is it the Heat link unit that connects to the UH8 with each stat connected to its own Heat Link unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Chris
