computer wont restart

So my rig wont restart if i choose to restart it, it just hangs up on a ram error or the orange LED just sits there on my asus mobo, if i shut the computer down and turn it back on no problem its only when i hit the restart option dose it just hang up, ive done a couple of mem test 86's and got no errors for the ram, ive also done multiple windows repairs.

Specs:
i7 12700k

asus z690 prim

corsair DDR5 dom plat 5600 mhz ram

rtx 3080

corsair 850 watt power supply

How about Old/Bad CMOS battery ? Got a volt meter ? Take battery out and test it. Make sure power is off and PSU is unplugged from wall when you work inside the case, always use rubber gloves. (thin surgical ones will do)

Of course, do not forget to re-optimize your Bios after you put the battery back.

ill give that a try never thought about it being a CMOS problem

The chance that the battery on a z690 board died or ran out is minimal, that board is new and the CR2032 batteries usually last from a couple years to 5+.

When CMOS is unstable, MB looses 2 settings - RAM & CPU, thus yes, that needs eliminated from the equation before going further.
