Repasting CPU question

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

That's fine.

Hey everyone,

so I'm almost finished with my build, but now I remembered something that bothers me:

Since I used an AIO liquid cooler (Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280) and wanted to test my system

outside the case, I had to take it off and repaste it before finally installing the cooler in the case.

For the test run, I used the Arctic MX-5 paste that came with the cooler,

but for the final installation I used Arctic MX-6 that I ordered separately.

Now, after I installed the cooler for the second time, I remembered that there is still some MX-5 residue

on the cooler (a very small amount around the edges of the coldplate + even less that got stuck

in the screw heads on the coldplate).

Could this lead to a problem? Or am I fine just leaving it like that?

If I do have to repaste it, do you have any tips how to get it out? I tried with a soft paper

towel/cotton swabs + rubbing alcohol, but the residue is stuck and I couldn't get it out...

To clarify, here is a picture of this cooler in approximately the same condition as mine before I applied the new paste:
