So I made a bozo move. Got a flip 5 for my older Roku tv to replace the meh built in speakers (Altec Lansing sound system finally started dying at 25 yrs old), not realizing the 3.5mm port was gone now. Is there a thing that will convert either 3.5mm, optical, RCA, or ARC to a type c connector?

Or maybe a good BT transmitter?

As far as I can tell, that's only BT, no other inputs. BT has a significant latency, so I would recommend against getting a BT transmitter.

No, not in that case. I wouldn't recommend a BT transmitter for TV use. The Flip 5 has a rather large amount of BT latency from my experience, so much so that it can be distracting at times.

That's the opposite of what the OP wants.

Perhaps I got a newer firmware version, but I'm noticing SIGNIFICANTLY less latency than on other BT speakers/headphones I've used. Have a pair of J55BT that have made me motion sick from the AV delay before, those are now exclusively audio only headphones.

I'd put the latency timing at about the same as someone speaking from 25-30ft away, which is all but imperceptible for me. Academically, I know there is latency, but I have difficulty noticing it.

It might, but I'm not too sure. I haven't looked into using the speaker with a USB-C input very much, so maybe I'm wrong in thinking that it's only used as a power source for the speaker.

Interesting. I'm not sure what revision of the firmware my Flip 5 has on it. I bought mine several months ago (honestly can't remember when, so maybe it was close to a year ago?), and I've used it with a variety of Bluetooth audio sources. I primarily use it with my phone (a Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G), but I've also used it a fair amount with a couple different iPads, a 13" M1 MacBook Pro and a 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro. The input latency with all of those devices has been extremely noticeable. Some are less than others (my phone isn't too bad), but it's far worse than most of the other BT speakers I've owned over the years.

This Flip 5 is roughly on par with the first BT speaker I owned in terms of latency, and I bought it over a decade ago. Still, I've been very impressed with the overall performance of the Flip 5, especially for the size. I've thought about getting a second one to use in a stereo pair for times where I'm in a larger room.
