TPM Module

Phizix

Good evening all.

Just looking for some advice please, I've recently bought a couple of games which stupidly require the secure boot process which is only offered by using a TPM module. My custom built machine does not have one however it does run Windows 11 strangely. I've managed to purchase a TPM module quite cheaply which is made by my motherboard's manufacturer so I know there won't be compatibility issues however I'm curious to know whether using a new TPM module will cause issues with my existing windows 11 installation given it deals with the boot process.

Any help or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Phizix 🙂

You don't need a TPM module with an 8th gen system, it's built into the firmware, might just need turning on.

But as you can see from the BIOS, it's already on but my system doesn't seem to detect it.

do you have csm support enabled? from what i've read, the option(secure boot) will appear(if your board has it) once csm is disabled on gigabyte boards.

It's enabled although I'm unable to see any other menus that it might come under, as you can see from the above bios image it states enabled.

I'm just going to wait for the Gigabyte TPM module to arrive and attempt to use that. Just hoping it doesn't lock out my OS.

csm is in a different menu than the one in your image. once you find it, you want it disabled. you can use the tpm module if you want, but your board should be able to already do what you need it to.

From what I can see with the little detail you gave us it's complaining about the lack of Secure boot, not TPM.

So yeah, disable CSM, enable Secure boot. You might need to make changes to your Windows install or reinstall it.
