Should I replace my RAM for AM5 or lower its clock or else ?

Snutze

Hi guys, Ive been trying to figure best ram for AM5 build and im kinda of lost right now.

So ive been reading everywhere that the sweet spot for AM5 is 6000 MT so it line up properly with infinity fabric. Going facter may in fact be detrimental (couldnt find actual RL test of this)

I just received F5-6400J3239G  Ram which is DDR5-6400 15GBX2 CL32

Should I replace it for 6000 MT Ram ? Should I lower its speed ?

Thank you !

I'm hoping someone else chimes in for a more definite answer, but I'm pretty sure one of the benefits that AM5 brought is decoupling the infinity fabric clock to makes these things be less of an issue.

Booting at 6400 is likely going to be a struggle and there isn't much to gain realistically. I'm seeing repeated attempts from people to buy faster than 6000Mbps kits and in most cases having trouble getting it working. If you're the type to want to just buy the RAM, enable XMP/EXPO and have it POST/boot up just fine, I highly suggest sticking with 6000 max, preferably a solid M die kit with EXPO.

I've had this kit since launch and its been flawless, plus I know if I ever decide to tweak and push it a little, maybe 6200, it'll handle it. For now EXPO enables fine and it hasn't had a single hiccup.
