Hihi! I’ve been entrusted in putting together a PC for my friend. I’m attaching a link to the parts I’ve picked. It’ll be his first PC and he doesn’t want any involvement of the build. I want parts that’ll last him long before he asks me to upgrade things. 🥲 Also, if anyone knows some sites where they’ll put together the PC that’ll be a big time saver!

PC Part Picker: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jJ6dcb

Things I don’t want changed (unless I really have to):

  • PSU
  • CASE
  • CPU

Things I’m unsure of:

  • Motherboard
  • Graphic Card
  • CPU Cooler (Don’t want to run into the issue of it not fitting)
  • OS (Windows 10 or 11?)

Much appreciated to any who reply! If I haven’t provided enough info, please let me know.

This should be overall better, I kept the case as that's mostly personal preference, but I changed out the gpu since the 6800 is flat out stronger then the 3060, and 850 watts isn't strictly needed for this build.

This should beat the crap out of 3060, i would downgrade my specs to 5600 (non x) to get this gpu.
For gaming GPU is more important than CPU.

PCPartPicker List

Thank you @Ryuikko & @SupaKomputa! I’ve compiled another list from the builds you’ve put together. Does it seem decent? I’ve also lowered the budget to $1,300 to save a little. 2TB will be fine for storage. Never heard of this graphics card but seems like fun!

Question: What are the chances of there being a Christmas sale on these items? Since he won’t be buying until December. Perhaps he can save a bit more?

Most likely. AMD already has newer stuff (7000 gpu) to sell, so they need the old ones to go away.

You can also look at the used market if you really wanna push the price down.

A used 6800 should be around $350-400, and probably cheaper on Christmas.

A year old card still has 2 years of warranty left.
