Hello community!

So currently these are my specs:

CPU-Ryzen 5 1600

Mobo- Rog Strix B 350-F

Gpu - Gtx 1060 6gb Dual

So I decided to upgrade my processur/cpu with a new ryzen 5 5600x and I searched in Asus support webiste regarding the compatible BIOS for the upgrade. So I did my preparations and installed the new bios to my pc so that when my ryzen 5 5600x comes it would be just plug and play. However while doing the bios update I did not get a post after the bios update has been completed and now my pc wont turn on and has the orange led indicator near the ram slots and the cpu. Is this because my ryzen 5 1600 is not capable of running the new bios? And everything should run smoothly after I have installed my new Ryzen 5 5600x with the updated bios?

PS: I already tried single ram slot, cmos reset. Still pc wont turn on and orange led indicator

I really appreciate your answers, I'm worried I messed my upgrade up :(

I don't think the BIOS update should have dropped support for your old CPU. It looks like BIOS revision 6042 removed support for the old, pre-Zen APUs.

Try reseating your RAM, and if that doesn't get the system to POST try clearing your CMOS by pulling the clock battery with the PC unplugged from the wall.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I already tried reseating my ram and clearing my cmos by removing the battery as well. Will the new bios update work after i have installed my new 5600x?

you either have 1/2XXX and apu support OR 3/5000 with 5000 apu support, not both

That is not true according to Asus's website. Support to pre-Ryzen is removed for 6042 but not R5-1600. Unless they have a QVL error

It is hard to say, you mentioned orange debug indictor (Q-LEDs as called by ASUS)? Then it's something wrong with CPU or DRAM (or motherboard not recognize them, which is BIOS related)

The worst you can do is try BIOS flash back function (Nore sure but it can be what ASUS called CrashFree BIOS 3, You can also use EZ Flash 3 to try update the BIOS again). You can refer to the manual about how to use those (E13031_ROG_STRIX_B350-F_GAMING_UM_V2_web_20170606.pdf (asus.com)) Chapter 3.11.2

Wow thank you for this, but does this mean that the version 6042 should be working fine on my r 5 1600?

Yeah the QVL didn't say the support is removed. So, it should have worked with 6042 version BIOS. Hence I suggest reflash BIOS using the Asus EZ Flash 3/CrashFree BIOS 3 feature (refer to Asus manual) and see if that helps.

Apparently my board does not have the crashfree bios 3 feature even though its on the manual, the board has to have a designated usb slot for the crash free and mine does not have it 😅. I'll just hope for the best when my ryzen 5 5600x comes it will be able to run the 6042 version. I'm just hoping that my motherboard did not die 🤞🏼

Interesting, maybe double check your motherboard model is the one you think it is, if so then hope it will work.

It's possible flashing wrong Bios on other motherboards, it unlikely will do damage to your CPU or motherboard, you can always try recover with epro. flasher/programmer.
