Compatible

Go to solution Solved by Eigenvektor,

In general any modern motherboard is compatible with any PCIe graphics card. PCIe is backwards and forwards compatible.

Since the b460m only has PCIe 3.0, the GPU would run in backwards compatible mode (i.e. also PCIe 3.0). Since it only has 8 lanes, rather than 16, you'd be somewhat bandwidth constrained compared to a board that had PCIe 4.0 x8. In most cases that shouldn't matter though, at least for this GPU.

From what I've seen, it doesn't suffer too much when limited to PCIe 3.0.

The story is different with the RX 6500 XT for example, which is limited to a x4 connection and loses a good chunk of performance on PCIe 3.0, so for that one you'd definitely want a motherboard/CPU with PCIe 4.0.
