Hey there. Recently upgraded computer and wanted to keep the old HDDs as extra storage just because its nice to have, I've got a fresh M.2 and SATA SSD detected but the old HDD's wont detect. Ive tried re-aranging the cables and even using the SATA SSDS cables on the HDDS but that doesn't seem to get them to be detected. The HDDS are both Seagate ironwolfs and were working fine 1 day ago before the upgrade. I'd rather not lose the storage on those drives nor have to replace them because they are fairly new not even 2 years old at this point.

Were they set up under any kind of pseudo-RAID, like Intel RST?

Are all the SATA ports enabled, and not overridden by the presence of an M.2 SSD?

no raid, i dont think they would be dissabled considering i tried one of the HDDS on port 1. the SATA SSD's which was detected. and same for the 3rd. i dont think it wouldn't not be detected because of the M.2 because the SATA SSD is being detected.

i should also say i used a USB to sata connecter on both drives and a spare 750gb laptop drive.
The laptop drive spun up and the 8 and the 10 TB drives didn't

So you have two broken drives now?

IIRC, USB provides only 5V and at least 3.5" disks usually need 12V and 5V.

good to know. doesn't change the fact that the PSU sata power doesn't do the trick. nor the sata data being detected. it'll work soon hopefully
