SMB server not working

Hi! So I set up a shared folder on my MacBook via smb and when I try to connect to it using files on my iPad pressing connect to a server and then entering the address it says incorrect username and password even when trying to connect as guest. Any ideas?

no I am connecting from the iPad and the Mac hosts the smb but never mind Airdrop worked thanks to your advice! Turns out I didn't have enough storage even though I did. I guess you have to have extra storage for Airdrop. Nevermind thanks for your help! The Airdrop thing was before I tried smb it was for the same files so thanks you solved it!
