 What motherboard do you have? No motherboard I can think of use 6+2. Its usually 6 pin for supplemental PCIE or 4+4 for the CPU.

I had the same problem when i was connecting my rtx 2060 super, you should connect the 6pin connector in proper orientation on the left side of the connector (gpu) and in the same orientation of the 6pin, connect the 2pin connect on the left two ports, which will be on the right side of the 8pin gpu pin.

i just tried it, and ithe pin on mthe pcie cable won't clip onto the gpu
