Laptop screen flickering

I have a hp pavilion from 2020, recently the screen starts flickering when I set the refresh rate to 144hz. I tried resetting the drivers and updating them but it still behaves the same. I running windows 10 22H2. Is there anything i can do to fix this?

how does it flicker exactly?

The top portion of the screen would have a band of lines showing whatever is below it in a distorted fashion, and the screen screen below it would flicker like a light blub when there is slight voltage fluctuation. Though it stopped doing that since this morning on its own.
