First ever pc build (budget is $1400 aud) helpful advice is welcome

If I were you, I would try to invest that little extra to get a 6600 XT. It's better and perfect for that 1080p 144Hz combo and more future-proof.

I also changed your RAM to 3600Mhz CL16

And PSU to 650w.

 

IMO what you've done is decent, but that GPU really makes a difference if you can make it, perhaps with Black Friday on the way, you can snipe a good deal.

Thank you! I was looking to buy at black friday anyway and this has been a great help. I also saw some other cl16 3600 ram that was about 15 bucks cheaper should i go for that its teamgroup ram

yeah, sure. grab the cheapest kit! as long as it is 3600Mhz CL16. Teamgroup is fine!

Just check the case (that or another identiacl to your choice), see how many fans it brings cuz I didn't pay attention to that. Check also if that MB has all features you want  usb (type/gen) etc..

I would actually recommend cheaper RAM, and a much better PSU. Corsair CV PSU's are very low end, and I RM650x PSU will allow for easy upgrades in the future, and you should be able to easily transfer it over to your next build too. Ryzen 5 5500 will perform about the same as a Ryzen 5 5600 btw, so you can save money there too.
