Series S/X controller? Trash controllers. I own the 20th Ann edition and will be selling it Monday, runs out of battery power within 3 hours on high end batteries and yes random disconnection using the official dongle.

Bought an 8BitDo Pro 2.

Super unhelpful to the question at hand.

make sure it's a data cable you are using, and not a charge only cable, unless you are talking about s/x controller with type-c.

is their a way to check if its a data cable?

if you have an android phone, or tablet, check and see if the pc recognizes it. data cables tend to be thicker than power only cables as well, so if it's really thin, might be power only.
