Dropped CPU

I was upgrading my pentium g3260 and it was succesfull! But sadly, when i was putting it in its box, i accidentally dropped it to the floor and as far as i can tell, only a corner was damaged. Will this be enough damage to make it unusable, or even dangerous for a motherboard to have this cpu in? I was planning to put it on a computer and have it as a family pc. Thank you in advanced

Very gently you can try bending that corner back into flat position.  There's no reason to not try it in a motherboard: if it works, it works.

I don’t know if it’ll still work, but I’m pretty sure using it would be considered elder abuse. A dual core without hyperthreading in 2022?

It’s $7 to get an i3 4150 with two cores and hyperthreading. It’s $15 to get some of the i5 CPUs from the 4000 series with four cores.

So uhh just toss it in the trash and skip lunch for a day since you definitely don’t wanna torture your family.

Please tell me you’re also kind enough to spend $12 to get your family a 120gb boot ssd?
