Hello Guys,

I'm worrying about how high my wattage should be for my build (Haven't actually made it yet). I have used 3 differemt PSU wattage calculators, and each time i reuse one, I get a different number than my last. That is when I was recommended to go with a 850w power supply, but when I was rewatching a linus video, it made me think twice.

If I go with dual SLI with GTX 780 Classified, then overclock both of them, would 850w really be enough? I was looking at EVGA 120-G2-1300-XR, and I feel like that would be a safer bet, but what I like about it is what I also hate about it. The price is too good to be true, is there something that would make it unreliable or not SLI compatible? Anything else I should worry about?

Thanks

(Here is my planned build if you need it)

Psu calculators for the most part are highly inaccurate.

A good 750w is already more than enough and 850w is overkill.

even with cpu and two gpu's overclocked? Just making sure, I'm having a little bit of anxiety with this build.

Unless you're flashing a custom bios onto the cards and pushing the voltages to absurd levels, it's plenty.

Right, but then he did buy two Classified cards which are designed for that purpose.

OP: WoodenMarker is right, in a sense, you will need to flash a 3rd party BIOS to get past the paltry power limits set by Nvidia and then overvolt the cores (not absurdly- even 1.25V on the 780 Classifieds which is fine on air will likely take your system power consumption past 850W). The aforementioned EVGA 1300G2 is an excellent PSU, it is one of the two PSUs I personally have and definitely not unreliable.
