I have a pdf a4 sized and I want to convert it to A5 size and print a booklet. The first question is, how should the layout be, and the second is how do I arrange that? I mean I want to pages of the original page to be on the result pdf’s one page.

This kind of depends. You can take an A4 document and literally just print it using A5 paper, and scale the document so that it'll fit A5 (I'm not European, so I have no idea if A4 can linearly scale to A5 without layout issues).

If you need to tweak the layout, you'll need a PDF Editor, like Acrobat Pro or one of the Third Party ones. Ideally, you'd reformat the PDF document so that it's now an A5 document instead.

Yeah it is linear (with every increment it gets half as big)

thing is I don’t want to print it on A5. I want to make a booklet. I hope you get what I mean. So I can’t just print it after adjusting size, I have to adjust the order too.

By booklet, I assume you mean you want to rotate the document, and print 2 pages per A5 sheet, so that you can stack, staple, and fold them into booklets?

If so, yeah, as noted above by @John Reactor, this should be an option within the Print prompt.
