Having and issue with bottlenecking 

While monitoring all cpu cores and threads it hits about 70% usage overall and  no single cores /threads over 80% while gpu sits at 85% so i cant seem to see where the bottleneck is occurring v sync is off and frames are uncapped any ideas to whats holding back the gpu from hitting 99% usage?

What game? Probably due to optimizations.

I see this all the time in games.

 

Do you have adaptive sync (G Sync, Freesync), or V Sync on? If you're limiting your FPS, then yeah, you'll never hit 100% on any CPU cores or GPU usage if you've got a beefy system. If your system can put out 200 FPS, but you're limited to 60 FPS, then you'll never hit 100% on anything.

 

Other times, game engines are so poorly optimized that they just are incapable of hitting 100% on a CPU core, most likely due to the bottleneck being your RAM instead of CPU or GPU.

 

Maybe I should make a thread to just talk about bottlenecking? I feel like it's misunderstood, misrepresented, or scapegoated a lot...
