my pc has been working perfectly till about a week ago, when i restarted it and my motherboard beeped and told  me my cpu was too hot, i shrugged it off and thought nothing of it but today i got on and installed OW2 and played a game, mid match i saw my frames weren’t getting passed 60 so i thought it was just a frame cap in setting i forgot to change but turns out it wasn’t then i loaded up task manager to see if anything was wrong then i loaded hwid to check temps only to realise my cpu was ranging from 95-100°c which obviously isn’t normal, so i restarted my pc nothing changed, reapplied thermal paste, wiggled my aio tubes incase there was an air bubble but still nothings working, it has been idling at around 55-65c when nothing apart from discord and hwid software is running which still isn’t normal but nothing to serious. so i was just wondering if anyone has a solution to this as i cant play games anymore ?

It wouldn't hurt to make sure your mobo has the newest bios, there could be some weird edge case causing issues.

i bought the aio at christmas 2021 it’s msi mag coreliquid 360r

Yeah a bunch of those are under recall because they clogged up with gunk.

i have an i5-10600kf and a msi mag 360mm aio if that helps, also i can’t update bios if i don’t have a usb of some sort, correct?

You could, but BIOS is hardly the issue here. Basically you don't need to update BIOS is it is not needed. As long as your system is stable BIOS does not to be updated, or if there's any feature that is new that you need, just update it then.

it’s only recently just started tho so would that be the problem i’ve had it for more or less a year with no problems

Well, he said it clogged up with gunk, so it would only got worse with time. Just get a good air cooler, like deepcool ak620 and call it a day. You don't need to worry about it failing.

i doubt that’s the problem bc it’s so sudden, i check my hwid software every month or so just incase anything is wrong and it’s only recently spiked up today

You do know that those tiny components in the AIO could just be fine one day, the gunk accumulating daily, and one big gunk could just suddenly clog the tube after days of accumulation.

You have a part in your system known to cause this exact issue (as in so confirmed the manufacturer admitted there was a problem). Until you've eliminated that as the cause there is no point in looking for another cause, or for anybody to speculate on one.

The 10600kf didn't come with any cooler.

Yeah, best of luck. AIO's are very common to fail, 10600KF is not that hot, just get a good looking air cooler and be worry free. Best of luck.

I mean, not in general. These MSI ones, yes. Liquid coolers are more prone to failure than air coolers just by the nature of what they are. But I don't think its fair to say AIO's failing is a common occurrence. That said I wouldn't use one that was out of warranty.

prebuilt

They shipped a prebuilt with a 10600kf and the stock cooler? 🤨 And then you bought the MSI closed loop?

Anyway, something like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin will provide all the cooling you'll ever need for that chip for $40: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09S35X72H/ref=twister_B0B17SLHP3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I suppose, because I thought of getting an AIO, because it does look good, but with every product research I did, there were multiple failures per product, especially the cheaper ones. Compared to an air cooler, it is more prone to fail, but yes, due to the nature of the components, I suppose it is not fair to say that it is common.
