CPU Upgrade

Hi everyone! 

I'm currently using an AMD Phenom II X4 965 OC'ed @ 3.6GHz and looking to upgrade. Is it really worth going for an FX 8350 in comparison to a 6350? much more performance for the extra money? Or is going Intel worth it?  any suggestions welcome :)

What sort of applications do you use? Just gaming or also video editing and that sort?

I made the jump from 965 to the 8350 (using crosshair V) and noticed a nice performance boost all around. Mind you I can't comment on 'worth the price' because I have multiple systems and needed to upgrade one anyways so I still use the 965 on a different board, still a great chip. Going to a FX 6xxx would not be a worthwhile upgrade.

 

Depending on your mobo it may just be a bios update to support the FX but if you switch to intel you are looking at addition cost as you will need to replace your mobo as well as the CPU. As we have seen on linus videos, the FX 8350 and intel 3570K are pretty even on most fronts however the intel system will cost more.

I would get the FX 8350 because games and application are starting taking advantage of their cores in order to get the performance they need.
