Im looking to upgrade an existing pc I’m basically upgrading the whole thing.

Im looking to find a graphics card and I can’t really decide on what to get. I can’t buy a graphics card more than 200-300. I would like to play casual games that I can’t really play on my playstation. I don’t need any over the top components just something that will last long and work well

Here is my PCPP list for reference https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yK8WPX

Ive already bought the motherboard so I can’t change that

Ooh.  A 5600g. An entertaining processor.  For starters a 5600g can’t do pcie4 at all so there’s no reason to get a b550 for it unless you plan to upgrade.  A b450 or a520 will work as well.  It should also be noted that it also has only pcie3 x8 to the top slot, so video cards are limited to designs that only need that much bandwidth.  Not something that will matter much in your case.  You can throw a 2080 on it and be fine. The lack of pcie4 though means that some video cards like the 6400 and 5600 that rely on pcie4 for their bandwidth should be avoided. A 5700xt or 6600 should be in your range though.  I also suggest looking at the evga PSUs. I got a really good deal on one recently.

my personal move would likely be to get a low end 4k monitor if possible.  They do 1080p quite well and those cards will be able to drive 4k for some but not all things.

If you DO want to upgrade a 5600x would go much better with that b550 the 5600x CAN do pcie4 which makes all the difference.  Also they seem to be cheaper than 5600gs atm (unless that changed again) and if you are getting a video card the G bit does less good.  If a 5600g is cheaper than a 5600x it becomes a potentially interesting chip.  If it’s more expensive it doesn’t though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It should also be noted that the 5600x. Won’t actually be any faster than a 5600g as long as you stay within the 5600g’s limitations.  The 5600x is merely able to exceed them.  It doesn’t do so without help. It’s got the same cores as the other one. The difference is in the other stuff.  You may be able to make a cheaper faster machine with a 5600g than with a 5600x. (If it’s significantly cheaper.  For a while it was.  And may be again) The caveat though is it’s got a hard limit on what it can handle.  It’s for machines you don’t upgrade much.
