Budget (including currency): £1300ish

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, 1440p, high settings. (Happy for 60fps, any more would be great!) + Daily school work P.C

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Starting from scratch.

I have done a little bit of research, this is what I have put together so far. Don't know if it works or if I am way off so please offer advice.

I thought about buying used, however I would much rather avoid this and stretch my budget a little more.

CPU: i5-12400f

GPU: RTX 3070

Motherboard: Asus B660-PLUS D4

RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 3600

Storage: 500gb WD_BLACK SN850

PSU: 850W - EVGA Supernova 80 Plus Gold

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow

Coolers, am I correct in thinking the i5 I choose come with a stock cooler. Won't that be good enough for the time being?

GPU, was also looking at 3060Ti and 3070Ti, choose the middle option, though am tempted to go for the 3070Ti.

Fans, case come with two, will these be good enough?

Storage, I don't play that many games at once, have been making do with the 256 on my Laptop so am assuming 500Gb will be enough for now. I was thinking I might add a HDD to store photos and documents.

Please let me know if I am missing anything, or if any of those choice don't make much sense.

If I can save a buck somewhere let me know as well haha.

If it helps, I was thinking of getting a Odyssey G7 to go with.

Any advice or help would be really appreciated. Have an amazing day!

Build is nice

Yet you could save some bucks with opting for a 6700XT instead of the 3070, it's cheaper

And this would allow you to get some more storage, only 0.5TB is not that much, and/or a $30ish cooler, the stock one "works" but not very well and is noisy

AMD R9  7950X3D CPU/ Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E board/ 2x32GB G-Skill Trident Z Neo 6000CL30 RAM ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 ARGB cooler/  2TB WD SN850 NVme + 2TB Crucial T500  NVme  + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD / Corsair RM850x PSU/ Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / ASUS ROG AZOTH keyboard/ Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

You can get storage a lot cheaper without any noticeable difference in gaming performance, I think in engerlund the crucial P2 is the best deal on a 1TB gen 3 m.2.  That'd double your space for probably a little less spent.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

Thankyou so much for the reply!

What cooler would you recommend? Having something quieter would be great. Also, I will have a look at the 6700XT 🙂

A good vid being better than a wall of bad text, I suggest you watch this, considering a 12400 has samey cooling requirements than a 5600 or 5600X (didn't find a vid specifically for 12400)
