You can't cf a 260x and 280x. They have different architectures.

The 260x is Bonaire and the 280x is Tahiti.

This belongs in the Graphics Card section. I'm moving the thread.
Please post in the correct sub-forum in the future.

Speaking of crossfire, is it worth it getting another 6950 for my rig, found some for £100-120, from benchmarks it seems that the 6950s have almost perfect scaling.

My PC specs; Processor: Intel i5 2500K @4.6GHz, Graphics card: Sapphire AMD R9 Nano 4GB DD Overclocked @1050MHz Core and 550 MHz Memory. Should be fine as long as you are only doing 1080p. 2gb probably wont be enough for any higher resolution than that.

If you could get it on the lower side of £100 or less, sure. If not, I'd suggest saving a 280x/770 instead which would perform better and more consistently so.

FOR GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

  • If I Crossfire R7 260x with R9 280x, Does TrueAudio will work??

both graphics card is the same GPU Architecture

(R7 260x has TrueAudio but R9 280x do not have)

Yeah what the moderator said, no crossfire from a 260x and a 280x. They have to be in the same gpu family, not architecture. For example, you can crossfire a 290 and a 290x but not a 280x. If you wanted to crossfire a 260x, you would need another 260x, and if you did that true audio would still work.

wooooooooo 100!!!

What is 28nm on the AMD website at the GPU Architecture??

Thats the manufacturing process that they use. nm stands for nano metres, and is a measurement of the space between the transistors on the chip.  and AMD's current gpu architecture is called GCN (graphics core next) 1.1

That is the node size. How big one transitor is. Architecture for the newest amd cards is Graphics Core Next, while the FAMILY(which is what you need for cfx) are named after different islands (tahiti, hawaii, bonaire, curacao, etc)

Problem is selling my 6950 to someone, i am a terrible salesman. Are there any implications selling a 2 year old gpu to a friend?

I always recommend buying a strong single gpu before crossfiring/sling it, the compatibility with games / programs is way better.

Tell him it's two years old and that there's no warranty?
