Ryzen 5 1500x low cpu usage in games?

Hey guys, i got a pretty decent gaming rig, 16gb ddr4 3200mhz, ab350m gaming 3 rev 1 gigabyte (w latest bios) r5 1500x and 1060 6gb asus dual oc, in games im getting like 90% gpu usage, and like 6-15% cpu utilization

90%+ GPU usage is good, won't get much better than that.

 

Depends on the game, but often they only tax a few cores or threads, in which case it is presenting as low usage. Although, your chip is only a quad core so I'd expect more usage than that. What game are you playing?

in pubg cpu utilization is like 5%

Are you sure? That number doesn't really jive if your GPU is at 90%+

PUBG desktop (Steam) with DirectX 11 (or 11 Enhanced)?

That can't be right, PUBG was quite able to tax my 1600X and my 3600, it doesn't this 5900X. It's quite capable of maxing out a 4-core 8-thread CPU.

its cuz of snipping tool i get like 70-80fps

what's your CPU temps looking like during gaming?

 

Is your 5-15% CPU usage when you dip out to take a sceen, or what you're seeing when you're gaming at 90% GPU utilization and 70-80fps?

 

Those FPS values seem about right for that class of card and CPU. Might want to try a different monitoring software; could be geforce isn't picking up the correct values for your cpu usage

my cpu temp is like 70 degrees, 75 max on a stock cooler, while gaming my gpu utilization is 70-90%, cpu is 6-11, 14% max

I think you need to try a different monitoring software to see if your CPU utilization is really being reported correctly, because that doesn't match the GPU utilization and FPS you're getting

Well i just checked, fired up furmark at 1080p res, avg fps is 72, cpu utilization is around 6-14% again at 3.5ghz

What about when you run cinebench? or CPUZ benchmark? Does the CPU hit 100%?

i lock my pubg to 70 fps with rtss so i dont have any stutters

alright. that's what it is. if you unlock fps then your utilization will go up. at 70fps your cpu only needs to work that much.

if the CPUZ test gets you 100%, then we know that the CPU can do more

 

for whatever reason your game isn't asking for more. Are you playing at a high resolution?

yeah, highest one. my monitor is 1080p

I dont see my cpu turboing in games? In csgo its also 7% usage xd

Have you tried another game, say, Cyberpunk 2077 or Shadow of the Tomb Raider?
