"Special" windows 7 needed?

I have a HP 8710w laptop which was a pretty high end workstation in its day.

 

I need to finally retire the Windows XP operating system.

 

Do I need a 'special' Windows 7 from HP that would make all the special devices work (touchpad, Bluetooth, WiFi, fingerprint sensor, etc) or will the regular downloadable from Microsoft version recognize these devices?

 

 

 

We've had problems in the past on Panasonic Toughbooks requiring their special version of Windows to make the display, touch screen, etc to work.

As long as there are drivers for Windows 7 for that particular model, just install Windows 7 Home Premium 32- or 64-bit (depending on the architecture of the CPU, of course). Then find the drivers off the manufacturer's website.

This page has all of the drivers for each edition and version of Windows all the way from Windows 2000 to Windows 7 for this particular laptop. (May have to scroll down before you see the versions of Windows to choose from.)

Install The windows version you need (32-bit) if you have less than 4gb of ram, and search on the support page from hp and download the drivers.
