Hey, recently I've dediced to upgrade my grapic card to the highest card I was able to buy: rx 6700 xt, which at the time cost around 600€. It wasn't very smart move as now I ran into problem - my i5-8400 started to be a serious bottleneck to my card. I have to upgrade my cpu + motherboard. My question is, should I go with i3-12100f and some kind of cheap motheboard like h610 or maybe cheap b660(I've heard that h610 is not very good, but it should be enough for me right??), or maybe ryznen 5 5500? Personally I would prefer Intel, but AMD option would have given me opportunity for better deal on matherboard, potential for overclocking (although I've never done that before) and SAM but at the cost of low cache and only pci 3.0.

The 5500 will also stay relevant a looot longer simplt due to being a 6 core 12 thread. The i3 is only a 4c/8t and that is the absolute minimum for gaming today. With the ps4/xbone leaving thr stage very soon except new games to go beyond the current minimim of 8threads.

Ryzen 5600 is generally better for not much more, usually about $10. While the 12100F and 5500 would be an upgrade over the 8400, it's not worth the money imo. A 5600 (not G) or 12400F would be.

A CPU bottleneck isn't bad in every case. Do you not get the performance you want?
