pc or laptop

Go to solution Solved by bal7,

well then ima pick pc cuz tons of argb

i recently got idea to get laptop or pc

but the difference is huge (50%) in performance

i can get a i3 10105f 16gb ddr4 4800mhz and a gtx 950 and alot of argb stuff

or

i can get a used hp pavilion with i7 6700hq 8gb ddr4 idk mhz 512 gb ssd and a gtx 950m

so i checked yt and it happens that gtx 950 is 2x times more powerfuf then gtx 950m

but i travel somewhere in summer but for 1 month, so should i get a pc or a laptop?

(no i wont spend money on something else like consoles better gpu or etc so please stay in my topic's rules)

if you don't go out that often or didn't play any games when travelling, i'll say just get the pc. 50% is pretty huge, and those 6700hq is pretty old, not to mention the battery life of those old gaming laptop

oh thanks

Do you need the portability of a laptop? If not get the desktop.

Also why ddr4 4800mhz? The i3 flat out cannot run that speed.

As for gpu performance a gtx 950 desktop is far over twice as good a 950m barely does 720p modern gaming today.

i kinda dont need it, but sometimes i do.

it can but idk if its gonna be stable (btw its stock speeds are 3600 mhz).

gtx 950m is like gt 1030, its pretty good for some modern aaa titles like forza horizon 5 and forza horizon 4 on low/medium/high settings.

Think about forza 1080p low at best. You are waaaay overestimating its abilities. Also dknt forget that this is right now when the old consoles are still relevant once the new ones become the main ones forget about getting aaa games going at 1080p and hope for 720p low 30fps+

A 950m wasnt even a good gaming card when it came out 7 years ago let alone today dont but this laptop

Neither of those is ideal for new release AAA titles.

The question for you shouldn't be what is better, but rather which is going to fulfill the need.  And if portability is key, then go with the laptop--and just adapt graphics settings to match the capabilities.

Laptops in the West that can run latest games at 1080p 60fps+ are already stupidly priced, pricing in Russia will be even more unjustifiably stupid.

Just get a desktop to enjoy games for 11 months out of the year and take a break for when you go away for a month. More and more games are coming out for mobile and if you even need you PC for normal use, you can always connect to it remotely through your phone if you need word or something.
