Vlc compressor ???

Is there some sort of plug in I can get for Vlc to use as a compressor 

 

me and the misses watch a lot of films in bed at night and find the music way to loud but the talking way to quiet and don’t want to wake the kids 

 

anyone know of a compressor of sorts to bring the low volume up and the high volume stuff down ???
