Ok, I remember Linus saying how no one should ever get HDMI because its flimsy and some other reasons... for the life of me I cant find the WAN show or pre-WAN show video...

Can someone recap why he dislikes HDMI, and tells us to just stay witht he DVI connectors?

Some guy at Best Buy asked me why I am not getting HDMI... on top of the fact the cords are way too short for a 3x27 monitor setup, I just told him.  Linus Sebastian told me not to... I dont remember why, but I remember I shouldnt get HDMI... I told him I would find out why for him, and I am going to BestBuy soon to look at electronics because I cant help it, I figured I would tell him when I went in.

You don't need to prove anyone at BestBuy your opinion, or view. They are there to push products that don't sale, or that brings the most to the store.

They may have "no commission", but they do get large bonuses from good performance. Also, probably he also wants you to buy an HDMI cable with it as well.

in addition, they are not experts. Experts don't work for minimum wage. You might be lucky and find that College or University student working there part time to bring some level of revenue to make ends meet, but usually you don't.

Now I don't recall the video either, but here is my points, which I recall being similar to Linus, and many here:

 - HDMI cable are costly due to licensing fees. Sure you can get cheap ones, but they are more costly than other cables of the same grade, or the HDMI one will be of even inferior quality to reach the price.

 - HDMI cables don't have a latch system on the plug, nor a good solid grip like you have on USB connector, or mini-DisplayPort.

 - HDMI license to have it in the monitor.

 - HDMI is finicky. It's not reliable. Sometimes you plug it and it just works. Sometimes and many times, it doesn't work, and you have to play with option like HDMI under-scan and over-scan to get it to work properly. Why DVI, the age old connector doesn't have this problem? DisplayPort also doesn't have this problem.

 - DisplayPort is vastly superior in every single way possible, and is cheaper. So why bother with HDMI?
