Are you wanting to add an SSD in addition to your existing hard drive? There is only one 3.5" drive bay in that case, so you'd need to remove the hard drive in order to have room to install the SSD. If you don't use the optical drive you could install the SSD in that spot as well, and you could keep your existing hard drive.

I mean you could just buy a SATA SSD and put it anywhere in the case, maybe stick it with a double sided tape or tie it down with zip ties/velcro straps, that is also a janky solution. I could see 4 SATA ports on the motherboard, so it should be okay. It's relatively safe, unless you plan to move the PC around.

In my experience, I have on one of these before and I had taken the connections from the CD ROM and replaced it with a solid-state, if you have any further questions are more than welcome to message me

To answer your question, it’s your personal used case if you use discs a lot then I guess it would be a bad decision but I personally have not used it in about five years because most things come with a USB or an online download now these days. If you don’t see yourself using the optical drive much could buy later on USB optical reader.

unlike a regular mechanical hard drive which needs to be put into place because your machine is most likely not moving much you could just have floating inside because there’s no mechanical parts and most solid state drives are housed in Some sort of plastic which is non-conductive so nothing will sort out. Even the solid states that are metal they are coated in some sort of film that’s non-conductive

there might even be space between the original hard drive and the CD ROM you could split it between
