Hey guys!

So my laptop specs says that it can support max 16gb but the processor on the Intel website says that it can support 64gb. Do you think that i can upgrade my laptop to 32gb at least, even if the laptop specs are 32gb max?

Thank you!

Usually you can go up to at least 32gb of RAM, but we would need to know the laptop model #, preferably a link to amazon or best buy or something.

Hello.

The laptop model is HP Pavilion Power - 15-cb003nq and below you have a screenshot of the specs for the Tech Manual. My laptop is the one with Intel 7700HQ processor and Nvidia GTX 1050 4gb.

It says "non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory slots" in this image, so the memory is probably soldered on unfortunately. Though I suggest finding a teardown for your specific laptop model to double check, or opening it up yourself. You're looking for SODIMM slots that look like this: Best upgradeable laptop 2022 | Windows Central

If you find out you can upgrade, make sure you search for 2400MHz SODIMMS as the specs state this as the limit.

Hello,

The memory is not soldered as the laptop came with 8GB and i upgraded to 16GB. I am wondering if by the details i provided, i can upgrade it to 32GB.

The cpu series supports up to 64GB. With the website saying only 16GB though, I would just go with 32GB. You shouldn't run into any problems. If you do, just configure the limited BIOS as best you can. I got a hp laptop late last year, and it said the same thing about adding RAM. I upgraded to 32GB just fine, I just had to reseat the RAM once for it to finally go "Oh okay, there's that much RAM now." lol 🙂

Well, if there will be any issues, i will just simply return the 32gb kit as here in Romania we have 14 days return policy. Thank you!

What do you mean by reseat the RAM? There are only 2 slots.

Reseating means to remove and put back. Sometimes you have to reseat a cpu or reseat RAM to get it to work properly. It should work fine the first time. However, for my laptop, when I upgraded from 8GB to 32GB, it only detected only one of the 16GB sticks of RAM that I had installed. So what I had to do was remove both, and reinstall (reseat) them, and it detected them right away. It was probably just a detection glitch, but sometimes that happens.

Ok, thank you! I will try the upgrade and let you know the outcome.
