I built a computer about 3 months ago for video editing. but for school i have been doing 3d modeling in blender and i need some gpu power. i have a ryzen 5  5600g with stock cooler on a b550 board with a 500 watt power supply with a comfortable 230 watts of power for a gpu.  what gpu should i look out for on the used market and at what price.

Not to throw shade, but without knowing the other system specs, I'd be afraid to run an RTX30x0 card on that. Could be a bit too close to peak output for my liking.

Granted, I have a 5900X with an RTX3060ti, but it routinely hits 450W load gaming according to my APC UPS management software. Pulls 175W-240W just playing movies.

I'd say the best GTX1650 Super you can get, or maybe an RTX20x0 card. Just my $0.02.

Due to the above, I've likely revised posts <30 min old, and do not think as you do.
