For the same price in my country (200 Euro) I can buy either an ASUS TUF GAMING OC GTX 1660 or a SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RX 590 SPECIAL EDITION

I've checked so many benchmarks, one has better performance than other in every other game, really hard to see whats holding up better.

https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/nitro-rx-590-8g-g5-se_c  OR https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Graphics-Cards/TUF-Gaming/TUF-GTX1660-O6G-GAMING/

My aim is 1080p @60fps gaming and programming/blender modelling etc.

My pc specs: Ryzen 5 2600 Stock, 16gb G-skill aegis 3000mhz RAM, 250GB SSD, 500gb HDD. I have decent cooling.

The nvidia card is NON-super and NON-Ti.

I dont know what to go for as it's hard to find recent benchmarks and statistics, knowing that the AMD RX series gets better and better with new drivers.

Thanks in advance!

Can you make it to a 6600?  There are issues with the 590 as AMD abandoned the 590 before the 580. The 590 is a 480 with some improvements but more or less the same base silicon.  My memory is AMD depreciated the 590 because it competed fairly directly with the 5600 which was just coming out.  The 1660 is of newer design than the 590 though still not new. I’m not real fond of either.  They’re both fairly out-of-date.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Unfortunately no... These are my only two options. I just need to decide which of the two I should go for?

I think the 1660 is the only even semi-viable choice as it is still being sold new. You may have serious problems getting drivers for the 590 in the future.  Myself if faced with that dilemma would be to buy something even older used and save up money for a modern card.  An even older card would be even cheaper as 1080p@60 just isn’t that hard to hit.  A “would you like your poop with or without sprinkles on it?” Kind of problem.

Unfortunately these are the only cards I can get in the country for an affordable price. I cant buy the 6600 as its 2x the price cheapest. I just need smth to replace my 470 with.

What country? A 6600 shouldn’t cost $400. That’s 6700xt money.  More like $250.  There aren’t a lot of places in the world where shipping a video card costs $150. Antarctica maybe.  In any case at least the 1660 is still being sold new.  At least till it gets replaced.  The 590 was replaced years ago though.  I’m a bit astounded it can even be found.
