So after transitioning to an old laptop as my Plex server, it says I am not authorized to access the server, on the laptop that is the server, and the account that it is made under. Any thoughts?

Until today it was like clockwork and never missed a beat.

Also, I can't get any "add new library" to show up. I'm totally fucking lost here. I've never had it be this temperamental.

Steps tried:

Authorize device

Reboot

Repair

Uninstall

Reinstall

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm having this same issue.

On dissimilar hardware too.

I had this issue with a pfsense router and my Netgear.

I tried running on a gaming rig with truenas and also a Dell T320 with unRAID.

I came across this but haven't been able to edit the file with winscp. And I'm bad at vim in a console.

So what I did was I had to use the HTPC app to route the IP correctly, then use the desktop app to add a library, and once I was able to get the IP straightened out it started working again.

Genuinely cool tip

But the HTPC app just states that the server's currently unavailable with its IP and default port listed since I added it manually.
Still stumped

Is it on the same network or are you trying to access remote? Also, I've noticed that the webapp can be inexplicably buggy for no apparent reason and say that the server is unavailable. Make sure that your IP for the server is set, and the port is correct, and I ended up fully reinstalling Plex, and having to make a "new library" which was just the old one pt.2

I also have a media2 share on my unRAID (^~^;)ゞ

I've only tried to hit the server IP internally. I also assigned the docker container its own IP and still get the same message.

I think there's something docker-related I'm goofing up. But every single video I see is so straightforward.
