First build D5 vs D4

Go to solution Solved by brob,

I doubt there is enough of a performance difference between DDR4-3200 CL16 and anything else mentioned to materially alter outcomes.

I am not buying in Germany. My use case is programming.

Honestly it's a pain to build with non-K now and I cannot finish my build, because:

If I go with the B660-F and get 2x16 6000 CL40 and decide to get another 2x16 later, it will probably not boot at all, at least not with 6000+ speeds. If I get 2x32 now, it will also OC badly, because higher capacity D5 + 4 DIMM slots, plus the price is not justified for such kit. If I sell the 2x16 kit in the future and buy some faster 2x32 kit, I will also probably have problems with booting, because the board and the CPU will not handle the kit at higher speeds, so I will have to get another CPU+board. At least the board allows BCLK and the ram will definitely run at 6000 or more.

If I go with DDR4 and H670 TUF, I can get guaranteed dual rank generic 3200 CL16 2x32 kit for the same price as the 2x16 Hynix D5 kit and it will work. Maybe I could get something like 3600 CL18, but it will probably not work and I will have to downclock to 3466 and maybe CL17 or keep it at CL18, because the difference is marginal anyways.

I would get a K CPU, but I could get the 12700 for almost the same price as the 12600K, 12700K is almost double that and having 2 more cores makes more sense for my use case. Should I bite the bullet and get the B600-F with 2x16GB Hynix kit ? Long term perspective use case.
