MB/CPU Upgrade Inquiry

Heyo! Current PC: Ryzen 7 3700x, EVGA RTX 3060, MSI B350 TOMAHAWK, 32gb DDR4 3200mhz, 1440p/144hz Monitor

I was wondering if there are any worthwhile upgrade paths for getting better game performance. I went with AMD previously due to low budget, but I'm interested in all options now. I'm looking to upgrade my MB since it's "old" and since I'm doing that I might as well see all the options for better CPU's  I don't even know if upgrading the CPU would improve performance since I'm out of date with all the current gen options. In terms of game performance, I do want to try and get as close as possible to 120/144fps in most games I play. The biggest game I have trouble running is BF 2042 if that helps at all. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Try this on for size. Basically the bones of my build. Board, CPU, cooler, storage, RAM.

And let me tell you, it packs a serious punch.

So I wouldn't really do an upgrade at this current point in time. AMD is announcing next gen CPUs and motherboard on Monday, so you might as well wait for that and go for a higher end CPU and not get a motherboard on a dead end socket (AM4 is EOL, so no real point in upgrading your current B350 board), and Intel will likely be releasing stuff not long after.

Not sure any AM4 CPU/mobo upgrade will give you much better gaming experience @1440p

Either upgrade GPU to something like a 3080 or wait for Ryzen 7000s
