Cable question

Go to solution Solved by Isuck Assimov,

DP 1.4 (which is supporetd by your USB-C 3.2 gen 2 port) should be enough for 165hz at a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

DP 1.2 would technically have too little bandwidth but anything newer can do it.

Looking to purchase a monitor, this one specifically:

My laptop does not have displayport but I need it to run 165hz. I do have a usb-c, could I use something like this to connect and get the full 1440p and 165hz?

As long as your laptop supports DisplayPort Alt Mode that will work.

Ports[1] Standard Ports • 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Always On) • 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (support data transfer and DisplayPort™ 1.4) • 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (support data transfer, Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4) • 1x HDMI 2.1 • 1x Ethernet (RJ-45) • 1x Headphone / microphone combo jack (3.5mm) • 1x Power connector

Says this on page 5, would I be able to use it?

So I could purchase the cable and use the monitor at full refresh rate?

Your laptop came with HDMI 2.1 but this monitor in HDMI only support up to 144hz.

But you also have USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 that support DP 1.4, if using this, then no issue support up to 165hz.
