Bought two 4TB Ironwolf NAS drives and tried initializing them tonight. Neither of them work and this is the error message I get every time.

System is an i7 8700k on a Maximus X motherboard with up to date BIOS.

Is there something I'm missing, can you not use NAS drives as regular PC storage drives?

Not that I know it will work but have you tried "clean all" command via Disk part, and then after try to initialize the drives?

Okay, so how do I explain this...

For whatever reason, it initialized when I switched to a different data cable that I had hooked up to one of my SSD's. I tried the other one and got the exact same result, wouldn't initialize when hooked up to the first data cable, worked when hooked up to the other one. The funny thing is though that both initiated drives now work flawlessly when hooked up to the "bad" cable, the one that was working just fine for one of my other SSD's all this time and still works fine now. No idea...
