Set DNS (same) in browser or network... or both?

Bender Blues
I've dug around for an hour, no joy.
Simply, if I'm using Quad9, do I set the same IPV4 dns on my network and browser? Or just the network? In Brave, the dns option is to let brave use my ISP for DNS or one of the others from the drop down list.
Quad9's not in the list, so it would be the 'custom' option.
Both or just on the network side?聽
And bonus Q:聽馃槅聽 in W7 (just a garage laptop for work), should I keep IPv6 enabled and use quad9's IP6 address as well? Or disable IPV6. My gateway/ISP does use IP6 and I see network traffic on it.
I dont do any network sharing/printing etc, so what would you untick if your goal was speed (Wi-fi in the garage sucks strong connection but lacking, need speed here).
Not my illustration.
Thanks a ton!聽
Cheers

If you do it for your network, all traffic should route through the DNS server unless a device is explicitly configured to use a different DNS provider.

So if all applications are configured to use the system DNS, they will use whatever you set for your network.

I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.聽

Thank you much! So I'll set it on the network side.

But in Brave, I got this. If I leave it to default, does that over ride the network DNS?

Or should I use custom and use the same DNS that I applied on the network?

Any thoughts on the IPv6 enable/disable at the network?

Just set up the DNS on your router. That top option is worded to make me assume it should use whatever is set by the router.

If you really want to get fancy setup pi-hole ( https://pi-hole.net/ ) on a device and have your router point to that as your DNS server.
