static shock vs computer components

Depends on the power of the shock.

Generally computer components as static shock is not that large and components are meant to handle electricity. However if you go rubbing your head against a balloon while sliding your feet on carpet, that might be a different story.

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)

Yep, you may fry a trace or chip on the part but it really needs to be a sharp one.

Usually components like motherboards have ESD protection on USB ports but it would most likely damage it if you shocked your components by rubbing yourself in a blanket and touching the board itself.

True, really you are more likey to damage the component during the physical installation of the parts than by static shock.

Idk but a anti static bracelet is like 4 dollars and its better to just get one then risk an expensive part for a stupid static shock.
