Screen artifacts, probably dying gpu

GPU: Gigabyte Rx 460 Windforce

These only appear in games, and either the game freezes and crashes or the whole pc freezes and needs a restart. Sometimes they just go away and the game comes back to life and runs normally. Alt+Tab seems to summon it more, but not everytime, not every game. This problem appears randomly not too often.

This is a used Rx 460, got it from a friend practically for free, so it's not a big loss. The card in the previous system mainly run Team Fortress 2, and didn't produce artifacts according to my friend.

My only questions are: what's the possible source of the problem (gpu Vram suspected), can anything be done to make these artifacts less frequent, how much life the card has left?
