I had to get a new 6600XT a few months ago because my 980ti literally burnt out. I don’t think my CPU (5820k) would be causing a bottleneck; however, I guess i don’t really know how to spot one. I’ve overclocked the CPU to 3750MHz, and i’m running the XMP profile on my RAM (16GB Vengence 2133). FPS looks good, CPU averages 50-60% in GoW  (2018).

How do I know when it’s time to upgrade my CPU? I would think it’s still pretty good by todays standards with 6 cores and running at 3750MHz. What would make a CPU out of date by todays standards anyways?

Watch out behind you!

since this CPU uses quad channel memory (assuming you populated all four channels) you are likely getting decent bandwidth, but what about the latency?

This is a fairly modest overclock considering the base speed is already 3.3 and the turbo is 3.6

when the system isn't meeting your standards. While the 6600 XT isn't top of the line performance, it's still fairly new and quite good in modern games. Since the 5820K is the oldest part of the system that impacts gaming performance, it would be the first candidate for replacement

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Pretty much if you have a CPU that can't clear 4GHz single core, you're a bit outdated.  Not end of world stuff, but similar to car being under 250hp.

it's not a horrible pairing as you notice by the fps, but something to look at when the new AMD and INtel processors drop.  Good time to upgrade then.
