Windows Update Issues

I have been having Windows Update Issues on my Windows 10 PC. I can't post all the information right now, however I can give a basic rundown. Its a Cumulative Update 2022-08 for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5016616) I managed to get every other update to download and install with a history receipt, Just not this one. It constantly resets and tries to install and repeatedly gets to 98% and then is "Unable to Update and reverting your machine". I tried Elevated Client and ran several Scripts and it discovered and "Repaired" Corrupt Update files but still reset loops. Any and all Info to help this problem is welcome! I will continue to add to this Forum post as I am at Whits End.

Try the following (to see if there's anything unusual going on that's OS Related):

 

• Run CMD Prompt as Admin
• Type "sfc /scannow" in the command line, press "Enter"

 

 

There's a few other commands we can try too, but see if this employs any repairs.

There are alternative commands you can run, like the following DISM commands, try these in order:

 

• DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
• DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
• DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Firstly I appreciate your timely reply. I tried these Commands a few times yesterday and it Seemed to work but the issue still persisted. I did get some error Codes however. I was an idiot and didnt document them. But Im sure that the problem is repeatable. I have a coworker in IT who suggested I look at my windows activation key. . . Since I didnt use one.

Sorry to hear that your issue is still continuing. The errors codes will probably help though.

Error Code: 0x800F0922 

So I managed to get all the commands to work and have success. I am about to restart the machine and attempt to update. 

Commands used:

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
sfc /scannow

 

I also Attempted .NET Framework resets in Admin CMD. Some of these commands didnt work however. I reinstalled .NET Framework 3.5 and actually managed to get it updated through Windows Updater. Error Code: 0x800736B3

 

ipconfig /flushdns - Didnt Work
net stop wuauserv - Worked
net stop cryptSvc - Worked
net stop bits - Worked
net stop msiserver - Worked
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old - Didnt Work
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old - Didnt work
net start wuauserv - Worked
net start cryptSvc - Worked
net start bits - Worked
net start msiserver - Worked

Other forums say to use Windows Update Troubleshooter However, I dont have access to this feature.

I just reset my computer and I had the same issue. I havent tried your Solution yet SavageNeo

So I ran the Commands again in Admin CMD and purchased Restoro to run. And still no dice. I might set a restore point and reinstall Windows 10. If anyone has any other Ideas I will keep them in mind but at the end of the day today Im going to reinstall windows 10. If anyone has any ISOs that get past this update I would be forever grateful if I can borrow it.

I found when Googling the error code to try installing the update through the Updates catalog:

Additionally, why don't you have access to that feature?

Installed from Update Catalog and it downloaded but said the Update was already installed on my Computer.
