Hey guys,

noticed that both of the threads in the mounts on the right-hand side of my H60 have been stripped and I'm worried it might fall down so have put the stock cooler back on as a precaution.

Obviously with it being moderately heavy it needs to be really solid because if it falls onto my GPU its pretty much game over.

I don't really want to have to shell out for a new cooler but it may have to come to that.

I guess I could try thread lock / superglue, but I also thought maybe squeezing a nut in-between the rad fins and the mount - what do you recon? Has anyone any experience doing this?

Cheers

As an engineering student, my advise will be to use a moderate amount of duct tape. Super glue also work but swapping out will be a real trouble. Black-coloured tape is preferred only if you want it to be stealthy.

What @HeathCliff said. Just use some duct tape. Or velcro  :D

The problem with velcrow, depending on how you do it, will leave a few mm's gap which can/will cause some decreased performance.

Ah, true. But with a H60 I doubt the performance of it would be affected. It's a pretty meh-ish cooler  :D

I guess with Velcro I would hear it start to move if it was gonna fall down ;) haha

If you use industrial adhesive velcro. That baby ain't going anywhere   I've used that kind of velcro on real heavy equipment and it doesn't move.

I guess so seen as though it is only one side.

Out of interest, what cooler do you use? I'm aware that the H60 is considered entry level by many..

I use the Corsair H100i. The H60 is a good cooler, yes. It will be adequate for decent low temps on stock clock and small over clocks.

Push/Pull isn't necessary (in fact, I don't think it's worth it in any scenario). A simple pull config is perfect. They are real easy to clean and exhausts all hot air out :D

Yeah that's true.

Duck tape will obviously cause obstruction to airflow too

Something like this should be sufficient.

Hey guys,

locate some M4x 30mm screws.

they are just a fraction larger than the OE 6-32 and you can "force" them to cut

new threads and won't have to go through a tape session and will look stock.

you won't need to run the screw too deep, to keep from piercing a tube.

Contact Corsair about this problem.

Considering that corsair will let you RMA the cooler because of the stripped screws I think they know about it.
