I'd go for the 6900XT between those choices, however the 6950XT is even better, are those available?

If you're going to be gaming at higher refresh rates, I also assume you won't be turning on raytracing, as that severely reduces fps. The AMD cards are generally better without raytracing. My choices would be 6950XT > 6900XT > 3080 TI > 6800 XT > 3080

The 6950XT starts at $1700AUD. It's out of budget and for the performance increase over the 6900XT. Not worth it.

I was having trouble deciding between them because of DLSS, from the look of things, it boosts FPS significantly without any noticeable impact on the graphical fidelity of the games. So basically my question is: Is the extra $500 worth DLSS and Ray tracing?

AMD has their own DLSS called FSR. Both are indistinguishable from one another and in a way FSR's getting far more support, mostly because it's open source and can be manually modded into a game rather than waiting till devs implement it themselves.

Would you consider second hand GPUs? It might be worth looking into if you have buyer's protection/insurance sort of thing, or transferable warranties.

I'm not Australian, so prices would be converted to AUD, I bought a used Asus TUF RX 6800 XT (less than a year of use) for AUD $1,015 and the new one is AUD $1700ish. With the transferable warranty and 2 years remaining on it, I'd say the price I paid way is more than worth it.

I considered it but the used market is either more expensive than brand new (for AMD) and only about $100AUD ($69USD) cheaper compared to brand new for RTX 3080/3080Ti

I see, well if you have not decided, going with the RX 6900 XT seems like the best bang for buck, not to mention that it is generally more powerful for non RT games than RTX 3080, unless you really care about raytracing and you feel the extra several hundred is worth it.

Seeing as FSR 2.0 has launched it is close to DLSS, future games would more than likely to implement it into their code, so DLSS might not be such a big advantage anymore.

So I managed to snag a Sapphire RX 6900 XT Toxic LE for AUD $1035 ($715 USD) Brand new - unopened.

Thanks for the advice all!
